Garage Door Types Explained

Below is a brief description of the four most common used doors today. Dependent on the type of garage you have along with overall headroom and width it may be possible to fit any one of these designs. It may also be possible to fit any of the following doors as a manual or automatic opener.

Sectional

Hinged panels in Georgian or horizontal ribbed pattern. Doors open vertically retracting into the ceiling space.
Roller

Fits behind the brickwork, opens vertically and coils around a drum above the lintol.
Up and Over

The most widely used door in the UK since the 1960's. Available as a canopy or a retractable door both swing out and made as a single panel.
